It's happened again. Less than six months after Microgaming's progressive Mega Moolah slot hit for the largest online slots jackpot in history, it has created yet another multi-millionaire.
It has recently been revealed that on April 8th, an anonymous player at Spin Palace Casino was playing Mega Moolah when all of a sudden the screen came to life with lights and sounds, indicating that the progressive jackpot had been triggered for an earth-shattering €6.9 million.
Spin Palace is thrilled to be able to claim the internet's newest member of the 1%; a spokesperson said, “It's always an incredible feeling to have one of our players become an instant millionaire.” No additional information about the identity of the player or his or her plans has been revealed, though there is no doubt that their life is about to fundamentally change.
While online progressive jackpot wins these days often exceed €1 million, what makes this enormous jackpot all the more special is that it comes not long after the biggest jackpot ever recorded. In October of 2015, Jon Heywood was playing Mega Moolah at Betway UK when he made history by scoring a jackpot of over €17.8 million. That mammoth win is considered by Guinness to be the largest online slots jackpot in history.
Microgaming's Head of Casino, John Quinn, summed up the feelings of the whole organization with a statement: “To be able to crown another millionaire so soon after...our historic and record-breaking win...is brilliant.” Over the years, Microgaming progressive slots have paid out more than $574 million, and at this rate much more is going to be won very soon.
